Mortgage broker is requesting copies of bank statements, Will they also contact bank to confirm statements?Does a mortgage lender verify funds in your bank accounts?
If those funds are for the down payment, ABSOLUTELY! I'm in the midst of purchasing a home right now and Underwriting wanted copies of 2 months worth of bank statements, phone number of bank, and verification that 401(k) loans were deposited. I did not submit statements for my checking account as it was not a source for down payment. Unfortunately, you are opening up your complete financial history and current financial picture to a lender.Does a mortgage lender verify funds in your bank accounts?
Oh, yes they do! For sure! It is very easy for them to do this.
';Buyers are liars'; is what mortgage lenders say. It is their fiduciary duty to verify the amounts you claim.
And, don't go trying to fill up your accounts with a quickie loan from relatives. They'll see it, so you declare that as a gift.
It depends, if it was shown on the application that you have a certain amount of funds in a checking, savings, etc, and that amount does not match what the bank statements show, then a verification may be completed
put yourself in their position.of coarse they're going to verify your aplication.
